Updated 6th October 2013; April 2023
The entrance to this excavated site lies below a cabaña in a field,
at the top of a shallow gully feature. The strongly draughting entrance
originally closed in to a dig over fill with a strong draught. Two points
in the entrance were dug, one of which broke through under a sandstone bed
into a reasonably sized chamber, with the draught coming out of floor at
several points.
A likely-looking draughting slot in the floor was attacked and, after digging
through a shale bed, it was decided to take out a large boulder. This allowed
a view down of 2-3 m through a small gap in boulders. Whilst trying to remove
some of these an overzealous prod resulted in a bit of a collapse. The hole
is now calming down. This area draughts out strongly. (No length given).
A further visit in 2013 confirmed it is a major project.
A look around the area in April 2023 found nothing new.
