A flat out crawl under a rock face part way up the side of a depression leads
to a drop into a standing height "chamber" almost immediately. Two holes
off to the right choke, as does one to the left. Straight ahead is a slope
up into a sideways crawl to formations blocking the way on towards a strong
echo. There is a good draught coming out of the entrance.
A couple more trips extended the hole to a reported 100m length and 30m depth.
The site is complex and needs surveying.
A visit in December 2018, "in our regular clothes" logged: A small pit in the floor of the entrance chamber appears to draught and appears to have had digging efforts in this area. The stal area previously photographed has already been broken through and appears to continue. Echo still apparent, but doesn’t go anywhere. Sound just reverberates in around you.
Over 4 trips in October 2022, some tight sections were enlarged and the cave re-investigated. Marks from previous explorers were seen but no new passage was entered.
Noted were
1: At the junction below the 4m pitch a short, steep, body-sized slope of shifting cobbles was investigated with the hole at the base draughting. This could be dug out and / or capped.
2: Under left wall is access to a hands and knees crawl not investigated "on threat of being entombed". This lead had not been entered by the previous explorers. [2022 account from Alf Latham]
