A draughting dig just above the streambed that runs down above the far end of Rampant
Rabbit passage in Cueva del Torno (site 2366). A couple of days were spent digging this in August 2018 with friendly interest shown by the farmer. The draught strengthened as holes were opened up and the site was left some 4m deep to open holes. It seemed very likely that one or two more days digging will connect this hole to Cueva del Torno.
Five digging sessions occurred in the summer 2019 with the final couple of days concentrating on digging a trench in mixed sediments under a large-span bedding plane roof, with a wall seen about 7m in the distance. The trench eventually rose up to a dry stream bed (flowing left to right. "Upstream" was not investigated although it appeared low and choked; crawling to the right, after 3 or 4m, entered a chamber, about standing height, where the sediments had collapsed or been washed away. No strong draught was felt and there seemed to be no encouraging way on, although a very low route on sediment under the bedding roof goes off into the distance.
The dig in the entrance shaft encountered a draughting hole in the wall topped with loose fill in a rift. Some time excavating this may provide a better result. A visit in 2022 confirmed this opinion and work continued here, at the base of the ladder, until the site required shoring.
