Six metres above Dairy Dig Mark II (site 1252). A
walking-sized passage, about 1m wide ends at a choke after 11m. A dig here
was abandoned 1997 as it seemed to go to the surface. In 2007 further excavation
was carried out. It looks like a big job to get under the clay and boulder
infill.
In the summer 2016, more excavation was carried out and then left for a year: "Dug for another 1.5m until rock wall visible in front; phreatic passage on each side. May need enlarging and shoring as roof is made of clay-cemented boulders." A draught is also apparent.
In 2017, the draught was thought to be coming from the "wrong direction". "It looks like a big job to continue the dig."
