MATIENZO CAVES PROJECT Matienzo '99 Cave exploration around Matienzo during Easter and Whit 1999 |

The Matienzo explorers enjoyed summer weather for most of the time at Easter and were able to add a large number of new sites to the list. Underground, the highlights of exploration were in the Four Valleys System where 250m of west-east passage in Carcavueso / Llueva (sites 0081 and 0107) was surveyed and site 1332 where exciting prospects were opened up to normal sized cavers and a 25m pitch awaits exploration. Another 260m passage was surveyed in Peñajorao. As usual we were welcomed by Pablo at Bar German and the expedition is grateful for the camping facilities and the use of the restaurant for computing and drawing up.
